Happy Friday!

Pondering Life..
Hello World!
Well, I will have to admit that my blogging (or lack there of) this week has been sub-par. With being busy with work and such, I have also been lacking any creative juices.
This has been an interesting week- from Sunday night’s VMA uproar with Kanye West (#TeamTaylor!!!) to stripping funds for Acorn (it’s about time) to big projects at work and even fitting in some post-work social time.
On a side note, this week I also started driving to work everyday with my roommate as opposed to taking the Metro. This has been a change for the better! While it is great to live in a metro-accessible area of Washington DC I was feeling trapped taking the Metro to and from work, especially since it is a six block walk from my apartment. Which, when coming home late, was a huge chore. I love being able to chat with my roommate, listen to the radio, and get to work much faster!
In some ways my roommate and I are like an old married couple! We are best friends and were also roommates in college before we moved out to DC. It’s so nice to have a friend that knows you really well, especially when living in a big city with new challenges, constant changes, and more stress and responsibilities.
So friends, no big plans this weekend. I am taking a membership class at my church all day Saturday and relaxing. Although this is the last weekend I am going to be in DC for awhile I think. I plan on going camping, have a wedding in Charleston, and visit my cousin in Lexington as well as take a weekend to go up to NYC! …I need to start getting some of these Fall checklist items off my list!

Weird Find
Ok so I saw a guy on the metro wearing these the other day and was freaked out…The guy wearing them was also wearing a suit. Oh the people that ride the metro!

Happy Thursday!
Hello friends! Time flies when we have 4-day work-weeks! Here are a few morning delights!
My co-worker shared this with me this morning- very entertaining if you haven’t already seen it!
On another note- there seems to be a lot of buzz around the new show Glee… I think I need to check it out, there are full episodes on their website.

Fall Checklist
Well this coming weekend is truly the end of summer, or at least the last week you can wear white!
So my roommate and I like to make seasonal checklists. For the summer it was beach trips, fresh cooking, apartment hunting, and tubing. There is a lot to take advantage of – things to do, attractions to see and there is something about this city that encourages you to enjoy it all!
Ideas for the Fall…
- Hiking and camping at Shenandoah
- Outlets in Leesburg
- Annapolis – eat some Maryland crab!
- Apple picking or pumpkin patches
- Old Town Alexandria – it’s so pretty in the Fall!
- Running in DC in cooler weather (and not dying from the humidity)
- Trip to NYC in October
- Atlantic City- I’ve never been! I’m thinking New Years…
- Penn State Game- road trip to PA
- Concerts!
I am sure that future posts this fall will include the above events and hope to share with you as they come along! And you will have to hold me to it, to get these all checked off my list!

Afternoon Delight
Well friends, I hope you are trucking along on this Friday afternoon. I would love some PinkBerry right now, I do not like sweets (my vice is salty things) but I do LOVE Pinkberry because as I describe it, it has an icy, tart flavor and would be great in this awful DC humid weather! I have picked out a song to pump up your spirits and get excited that only a few more hours till the weekend!

Last Minute Trip to California
Just a few days ago I decided to take a last minute trip to California. So here I am. While I got in late Wednesday night last week, as tradition, I stopped at In-N-Out on the way home from the airport…only the best burger place EVER!
Mmmmm…

Fast food at its finest
Here are some pictures I have taken while I have been home…

Lunch with my Nonni outside our favorite Mexican restaurant
Some pictures around my parents house… I do having a backyard at my apartment in DC!

The nice thing about coming home is that I never have an agenda. There is a lot of time to relax at home. I forget how nice it is to have a lot of space after being in a small apartment in the city.
On Friday, I went out to my Nonni and Nonno’s (Italian Grandparents) Ranch and made sure to spend some time with them while I was in California. While my Nonno is slowing down a bit, he still likes to get around the farm on one of the John Deere Gators.

On my Mom’s side of the family they farm Pistachios.

I also went to dinner while I was home with my Grandmother and Grandaddy (Dad’s parents) while I was home.

Dinner with my Grandparents
We ate at one of my favorite places, which is very unique to Bakersfield, Woolgrowers. It’s a Basque restaurant that includes multiple courses, one being pickled tongue (cow’s tongue- sounds gross but is actually really good).
