Thanksgiving Is Near…
Hello Friends,
My blog has looked a bit deserted from my lack of posting and I have missed sharing with you these last few weeks! Things have been a little crazy around the office as I have been keeping busy after the election, but things are finally starting to slow down now that the holidays are upon us. And now that I realize it, I can not believe that Thanksgiving is just a few days away! This time of year always seems to fly by quickly.
What are you planning for Thanksgiving?
My family is switching it up a bit this year. Instead of flying back to California for the holiday and spending Turkey Day in Bakersfield, like I have every year of my life, we are spending it on the East Coast. My parents, brother and I are spending Thanksgiving at The Homestead in Virginia. This is a very cool resort in Hot Springs, VA with so many activities, I can’t wait! My mom and I have spa appointments- I am soo looking forward to a massage! My dad and brother are going to do some skeet shooting. There are tons of activities such as wine tasting, afternoon tea, horseback riding, carrage rides, falconry to name a few! I think there will be trouble deciding what to do!
The resort is a few hours from Washington D.C., so the family is flying in here and then we are driving to The Homestead. I can’t wait and I am sure I will have a bunch of photos to share with y’all after our adventure!

My Fall Fashion Finds
I really don’t go shopping that often. Only a couple of times a year. However, my closets and dresser (and yes, even under my bed) are jammed with skirts, dresses, shoes, jeans and even some of those college greek t-shirts. Some things dressy, some things tailored but it’s all things I’ve accumulated over time and because I really only buy things I love, I don’t throw a lot of things out.
However, I had reached a point where I was saving things that I knew I hadn’t worn in years and in an old Georgetown row house like mine, storage space is precious. So, I tackled some much-needed fall cleaning. Then last weekend, I did some shopping and filled most of the space I had cleared. I was feeling gross and dreading the cooler weather because I never feel like my clothes are as cute as in the summer. It is so nice in the warmer months to just be able to throw on a dress and head out. In the winter, it is much more complicated to combine form and function. You can be warm, but you will be frumpy. Or you can look cute, but be guaranteed to freeze. So I did some strolling to see if I could find a few winter pieces to add to my wardrobe, that will get me through the depressing months ahead!
Below are some of my finds…

Design Website
If you know me well, you know that I love interior design, architecture and real estate. If I had the option for a double life I would own my own company that incorporated these loves of mine. Until that day happens, most likely never, I will appreciate all the beautiful buildings and style that surround me in Washington, DC, keep my eye on the real estate section of the paper and stalk design blogs and websites.
One of my favorite design websites is Ballad Designs. A more traditional and romantic version to the popular Pottery Barn, Ballard Design has beautifully shaped furniture, pretty lamps and mirrors and while the site feels very custom, does not have outrageous price tags.
Some of the things on my virtual Wish List:
Ok, so basically I would buy the entire catalogue, this would just be a start!

Fire Nancy Pelosi
With just a few hours left in the online campaign, and still in less than 40 hours the RNC has raised more than $1,002,010!!
The Goal? Raise money to fire Pelosi by gaining back the 40 seats needed to win the majority.

Friday Find: Etsy Shop
So a have a small collection of milk glass pieces that I have received from my Nonni (Italian Grandmother) and other family over the last several years. At first I didn’t think I like milk glass that much, but it has grown on me and now I’m thinking of other pieces I can add.
Most recently, I found on Etsy a milk glass cream and sugar set.
Mostly I just love cream and white pottery and serve ware. I hope to have a collection like this one day:
Happy Friday!!! The weather is great in DC, I have pulled out the summer dresses and no more tights or scarves! I hope to wander some antique shops this weekend too!

The Perfect Little Cottage..
Hey friends, I somehow stumbled across this adorable cottage home for sale in Wilmington, North Carolina. I am in love and want to move in tomorrow! .
Check out other cute photos here of this home that was updated just a couple of years ago. Didn’t everyone dream of the perfect house with the white picketed fence when they were little?

As yet another storm is brewing…
Well we had a bit more snow last night… another few inches and this snow was a very wet one and the trees were just coated in white that it was so beautiful. However it is storm that is headed to the DC area coming Friday that we keep getting warnings about. On the weather sites they are predicting over 2 feet of snow, much like we received back in mid-December.
But on a positive note, last night a group of my friends booked a vacation to JAMAICA! We are staying at the all-inclusive resort: Grand Palladium Montego Bay, Jamaica.
I can barely wait until the first of March when we leave for some warm weather and much needed sun bathing.
So the truth is, yes you can still have a spring break after college!

Changing the blog around a bit…
Hello friends,
As you may have noticed the last week or so I have changed Anchored around a bit, playing with different colors, themes and graphics. I have decided on a pretty clean and simple appearance with a graphic at the top that is taken from a piece that I painted a few weeks ago. Here is the painting it its entirety. I have never been a painter before but feeling frustrated I thought it would be a good outlet to explore. Maybe I’ll be making more in the future so that I can get better!
